What is the Bill Coon Trio with Ross Taggart?  

It‘s a dynamic group of musicians that combine the talents of drummer Dave Robbins, acoustic bass player Darren Radtke, tenor saxophonist Ross Taggart and guitarist/composer Bill Coon.

The group, which has been a working unit for over three years now, is dedicated to performing original music such as “Speakeasy”, “The Gift” and “Read My Mind” as well as their unique arrangements of standards.

Who are they?

Darren Radtke is one of Canada’s most lyrical bassists. He is an outstanding soloist as well as a superlative accompanist.

The same can be said for Dave Robbins who brings his wide range of experience and fantastic musicality to the group.

Juno award winner Ross Taggart’s gorgeous tenor sound and exciting solos full of warmth and humour are a wonderful addition to the trio.

 Led by the well-known guitarist Bill Coon, the group showcases his abilities as both a performer and a composer. His beautifully constructed melodic solos and his warm and engaging guitar sound are a treat to listen to.

Where have they performed?

The trio has performed at several important festivals including the Vancouver International Jazz Festival where they opened up for Dave Brubeck at the Orpheum in 2002.

They can also be heard at Vancouver’s premier jazz club the Cellar and O’Doul’s Restaurant on a regular basis.
